Reading the table
“1.5× over 40 h a week (FLSA)” means the state adds nothing to the federal rule — either it has no overtime statute or its statute mirrors the FLSA. The federal rule still protects you there if your job is covered, which most hourly jobs are.
Minimum wage matters for overtime because your regular rate can never be lower than it; a worker paid below the minimum is owed the difference on every hour, and overtime on the corrected rate. Where a state indexes its minimum wage and has not yet published next year’s figure, the calculator switches to asking for your official number rather than guessing.
The tax column is about the federal deduction for the FLSA half-time premium (IRC § 225). “Taxed” means the state taxes all of your overtime; “follows” means the deduction also lowers state taxable income. The full explanation for each state is on its page and on Is overtime taxed in my state?
