Iowa Overtime Calculator
Iowa has no overtime statute — the FLSA’s 40-hour rule applies — and its minimum wage tracks the federal $7.25. On taxes it is one of the most generous: Iowa follows the federal overtime deduction automatically.

Your no-tax-on-overtime deduction
Iowa (2026): allows the same deduction — $6,068.40 off state taxable income.
Rolling conformity does the work
Since Iowa began using federal taxable income as its starting point, any federal deduction taken before taxable income flows into the state return unless the Legislature carves it out. The Department of Revenue confirmed Iowa conforms to no tax on tips, overtime and car-loan interest, but noted that the 2026 Iowa W-4 could not be changed to reflect them — the benefit arrives when you file.
Iowa’s wage claim limits
The Iowa Division of Labor accepts a wage claim only if it is filed less than one year (365 days) after the wages were due and the amount owed is under $6,500. Claim forms are available in English and Spanish. Larger or older claims go to court.
