Missouri’s own exemptions
Beyond employment the FLSA already covers, the Missouri wage law exempts retail or service businesses whose gross annual sales are under $500,000. Seasonal amusement and recreation businesses owe premium pay only after 52 hours in a week.
Is overtime taxed in Missouri?
Yes. Form MO-1040 starts on line 1 with federal adjusted gross income, the federal overtime deduction is taken after AGI, and the 2025 instructions have no overtime subtraction. The Missouri Senate’s summary of bills truly agreed and finally passed in 2026 contains no overtime tax measure.
Voter-approved wage increases
Missouri’s rate went from $7.85 in 2018 to $12.00 in 2023 and $12.30 in 2024; RSMo 290.502 now sets $13.75 for 2025 and $15.00 for 2026, then adjusts the rate by the CPI-W each year, so the calculator asks for the official 2027 figure until it is published. Wage complaints go to the Division of Labor Standards, with a separate page for minimum wage complaints.
