What the Bureau of Wage and Hour will chase
The Ohio Department of Commerce investigates unpaid minimum wage, unpaid overtime, unauthorized deductions and withheld final paychecks. It cannot collect vacation, sick or holiday pay or other promised benefits, and it does not handle wrongful termination or tax-withholding disputes. Complaints are filed on a form completed in black or blue ink.
Small employers
Employees of businesses below the gross-receipts threshold, and 14- and 15-year-olds, are owed the federal $7.25 rather than the indexed Ohio rate. The large-employer rate rose from $8.10 in 2016 to $10.45 in 2024 and $11.00 in 2026.
Ohio income tax
The IT 1040 begins with federal adjusted gross income and the 2025 instruction booklet contains no overtime deduction.
