Indiana Overtime Calculator

Indiana copies the federal rule — time and a half after 40 hours — for employers with two or more employees. Its one novelty is a one-year tax break: for 2026 only, Indiana lets you deduct the same overtime amount as your federal return.

What the calculator leaves out

01

A single-year deduction

The Department of Revenue’s guidance (Information Bulletin #128) allows the overtime deduction in computing Indiana adjusted gross income for taxable year 2026 only, capped at what you deduct federally. 2025 overtime was fully taxable, and unless the General Assembly extends it, 2027 and 2028 will be too.

02

Filing with the Indiana Department of Labor

Indiana’s Wage and Hour Division takes wage claims through an online form and warns that some disputes can take as long as 90 days to resolve.

03

Minimum wage

Indiana has matched the federal $7.25 throughout the DOL history table; the state law applies to employers with two or more employees.

04

Example week

Indiana’s May 2025 median was $23.01 an hour; this is that worker’s 50-hour week.
