Connecticut Overtime Calculator
Connecticut follows the 40-hour weekly rule but keeps an unusual restaurant rule on the books, and its minimum wage — indexed every January — moves to $17.48 in 2027. Overtime is fully taxable on the CT-1040.

Your no-tax-on-overtime deduction
Connecticut (2026): taxes all overtime — no state deduction.
Restaurant seventh-day premium
In restaurants and hotel restaurants, work on the seventh consecutive day earns time and a half — calculated on the minimum rate rather than the employee’s regular rate. The calculator does not add that premium automatically; if it applies, it is a Connecticut-only amount that never counts toward the federal deduction.
A long queue for wage complaints
The Wage and Workplace Standards Division takes complaints in English and Spanish, but when we checked it was 8 to 10 months behind in assigning new claims. Keep your own records of hours and pay while you wait.
Minimum wage path and tax
Connecticut went from $9.60 in 2016 to $15.00 in 2023 and has been indexed since, reaching $16.94 in 2026; Governor Lamont announced $17.48 for January 1, 2027. The CT-1040 begins with federal adjusted gross income, and the federal overtime deduction comes after AGI, so it never reaches the state return.
