Montana Overtime Calculator
Montana pays overtime after 40 hours and starts its income tax from federal taxable income — so the federal overtime deduction carries straight through. Its minimum wage, $10.85 in 2026, is reset by the cost of living every year.

Two minimum wages
Businesses with more than $110,000 in annual sales pay the full rate; a business outside the FLSA with $110,000 or less may pay $4.00 — but any individual employee who is covered by the FLSA must still get the higher of the federal or Montana rate. The full rate climbed from $8.05 in 2016 to $10.30 in 2024 and $10.85 in 2026.
Department or District Court
If you are owed wages and cannot settle with your employer, you can file a wage claim with the Department of Labor & Industry or go straight to District Court. Claim forms are available at Job Service offices, online, or by email at dlierdwage@mt.gov.
Form 2 and Schedule 1-A
The 2025 Form 2 instructions tell filers to report their standard or itemized deduction together with the additional deductions on federal Schedule 1-A — including qualified overtime compensation. That is how the federal deduction becomes a Montana one.
