Vermont Overtime Calculator
Vermont pays overtime after 40 hours for employers of two or more and indexes its minimum wage — $14.42 in 2026. Its tax department told lawmakers the federal overtime deduction simply does not translate to Vermont’s system.

Your no-tax-on-overtime deduction
Vermont (2026): taxes all overtime — no state deduction.
Minimum wage path
Vermont’s rate rose from $9.60 in 2016 to $10.96 in 2020, $12.55 in 2022 and $13.67 in 2024; the federal rate replaces it automatically if it is ever higher. We could not retrieve the 2027 notice, so the calculator asks for that figure from January 1, 2027.
Online wage claims
The Wage and Hour Program takes claims through an online form. Filing it means agreeing that a copy of the claim and anything you submit will be forwarded to your employer.
The tax department’s testimony
In February 2026 the Department of Taxes told the House Ways and Means Committee that the federal tips, overtime, car-loan and senior deductions “do not translate to the Vermont individual tax system” because they are below the line. Act 164 of 2026 moved Vermont’s conformity date to December 31, 2025 without changing that.
